Publication of the Financial Markets Review (final report)

National Treasury (NT), the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) have released the Financial Markets Review (final report), which provides recommendations for conduct practices in domestic over-the-counter fixed income, currency, commodities and derivatives financial markets. The final report follows an intensive consultation period that started in September 2018.

Zoom Executive Investments is not authorised in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 2002 (FAIS Act) to render any financial advice and intermediary services.

An inherent conflict of interest

It has been standard practice for service providers to appoint a staff member internally to act as the fund’s principal officer. However, there has been an inherent conflict of interest. Going forward service providers of umbrella funds, preservation funds, retirement annuity funds and all retail funds, may not employ the PO of their funds.
