Please take the time to read the full privacy policy. You consent to the data collection, use, disclosure and storage practices described in this privacy policy when you use any of our services (as described below), including when you access any content or videos.

By using the Site, you agree to comply with all of the terms and conditions hereof.

The information we collect

We receive both information that is directly provided to us, such as personal information you provide when you visit the FAnews website, and information that is passively or automatically collected from you, such as anonymous information collected from your browser or device.

  1. Information you provide to us.With some of our services, you can register, vote in polls or otherwise express an opinion, subscribe to our online newsletters, magazine or participate in one of our online forums or communities. In the course of these various offerings, we often seek to collect from you various forms of information, such as: name, address, e-mail address, telephone and fax number. You may also submit information about other people. For example, you might submit a person's details to send information to or correspond with and this information may include, for instance, a recipient's name, address, e-mail address and telephone number.
  2. Information that is collected.We, and third-party service providers, advertisers, agencies and distribution or other partners may use automated means to collect various types of information about you, your computer or other device used to access our services. Information collected by and from social media services and other third-party platforms.You also can engage with our content, such as videos and other offerings, on or through social media services or other third-party platforms, such as Facebook, LinkedIn or other third-party social media plug-ins, integrations and applications. When you engage with our content on or through social media services or other third-party platforms, plug-ins, integrations or applications, you may allow us to have access to certain information in your profile. This may include your name, e-mail address, photo, gender, birthday, location, an ID associated with the applicable third-party platform or social media account user files, like photos and videos, your list of friends or connections, people you follow and/or who follow you, or your posts or "likes." For a description on how social media services and other third-party platforms, plug-ins, integrations or applications handle your information, please refer to their respective privacy policies and terms of use, which may permit you to modify your privacy settings. When we interact with you through our content on third party websites, applications, integrations or platforms, we may obtain any information regarding your interaction with that content, such as content you have viewed and information about advertisements within the content you have been shown or may have clicked on.

How we use the information

We may use the information to:

  1. provide and communicate with you about the services or your account with us;
  2. fulfil your requests regarding the services, including without limitation requests for newsletters and notifications;
  3. respond to your inquiries, and notify you of any changes or requests;
  4. communicate with you about other products or services that we believe may be of interest to you;
  5. enforce the legal terms (including without limitation our policies and terms of service) that govern your use of our services, and/or for the purposes for which you provided the information;
  6. provide technical support for the services;
  7. prevent fraud or potentially illegal activities (including, without limitation, copyright infringement) on or through the services;
  8. protect the safety of our users;
  9. customise or personalise ads, offers and content made available to you based on your visits to and/or usage of the FAnews online or mobile website, applications, platforms or services, and analyse the performance of those ads, offers and content, as well as your interaction with them;
  10. perform analysis regarding how you use the services or any part thereof.

When you provide information about yourself to us through an application, through our services, or on social media services or other third-party platforms, it may be publicly viewed by other members of these services and we cannot prevent further use of the information by third parties.

Sometimes, we may associate cookies with the information, including de-identified or anonymous versions of information you have provided (such as during registration), in order to send ads and offers based on your presumed interests or demographic information.

We may combine any of the information we collect, for any of the above purposes, and may sometimes enhance the information with other information that we obtain from third-party sources. Please also be aware that if you choose to submit information or content for publication (e.g. a letter to our editors, comments sent to us, posting to a blog or a discussion board, or a video), we may publish that information and content, along with other information about you (such as your name, screen name or location). Likewise, if you register and create a profile to comment to an online newsletter, for example, the screen name you select as well as other content you submit to your profile (e.g., photos, comments, video, reviews) will be displayed publicly on the service, is searchable, can be found by third parties and may be reused and redistributed by us in our sole discretion.

Information sharing and disclosure

We may disclose the Information as follows:

  1. To service providers or partners that we have engaged to perform business-related functions on our behalf. This may include service providers that: (a) conduct research and analytics; (b) create content; (c) provide customer, technical or operational support; (d) conduct or support marketing (such as email or advertising platforms); (e) fulfill orders and user requests; (f) handle payments; (g) host our services, forums and online communities; (h) administer contests; (i) maintain databases; (j) send or support online advertising; and (k) otherwise support our services.
  2. In response to legal process, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena, a law enforcement or government agency's request or similar request.
  3. With third parties in order to investigate, prevent, or take action (in our sole discretion) regarding potentially illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to any person, us, or the services, or violations of our policies, the law or our Terms of Use, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our services.
  4. We may transfer some or all of your information if we, or one of our business units, undergoes a business transition, like a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or part of our assets, or if a substantial portion of our or of a business unit's assets is sold or merged in this way.
  5. We do not share the information with affiliated partners and third parties (e.g. our third-party service providers, advertisers, advertising networks and platforms, that wish to market products or services to you.
  6. Please note that the services covered by this Privacy Policy may offer content (e.g. applications, adverts, content or social network integrations) that is sponsored by or co-branded with identified third parties. By virtue of these relationships, the third parties may obtain information from their visitors. We have no control over these third parties' use of this information, which is subject to their own privacy policies.

Cookies and user and ad-targeting technologies

We use cookies and other technologies both to provide our services to you and to advertise to you.

We also may work with partners to help them advertise to you when you visit other websites or mobile applications, and to help them perform user analytics. These technologies may also be used to analyze how our users interact with advertising on our services and elsewhere, and more generally, to learn more about our users and what services or offers you might prefer to receive.   1. To enhance your online experience, we use cookies, web beacons or other tracking technologies. We use cookies or other tracking technologies to understand service and internet usage and to improve or customize the products, content, offerings, services or advertisements on our services. Advertising

Advertising enables us to provide the rich content for which our services are known, and to provide much of this content free of cost to our users. Thus, we strive to provide you with ads that are relevant to you and for products you may want.

When using a mobile application you may receive tailored in-application advertisements. Depending on your device, you may be able to reset your mobile device's advertising identifier at any time by accessing the privacy settings on your mobile device. In addition, each operating system, iOS for Apple phones, Android for Android devices and Windows for Microsoft devices, provides its own instructions on how to prevent the delivery of tailored in-application advertisements. You may review the support materials and/or the privacy settings for the respective operating systems. Other important information about your privacy

  1. Some of the services contain links to or integrations with other services such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other media services and platforms whose information practices may be different than ours. Visitors should consult these other services' privacy notices as we have no control over information that is submitted to, or collected by, these third parties.
  2. This service is governed by and operated in accordance with South African law. If you are located outside of South Africa, you use this service at your own risk.
  3. We have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures designed to help prevent unauthorized access, to maintain data security, and to use correctly the information we collect online. These safeguards vary based on the sensitivity of the information that we collect and store. Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information, we cannot assure you that information will never be disclosed, altered or destroyed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
  4. If you have signed up to receive our e-mails and prefer not to receive marketing information from this service, follow the "unsubscribe" instructions provided on any marketing e-mail you receive from this service.

User content and conduct guidelines

  1. You may be given the opportunity to register via an online registration form or create a user account that may allow you to receive information from FAnews and/or to participate in certain features on the site such as certain interactive areas. FAnews will use the information you provide in accordance with the Privacy Policy. By registering you represent and warrant that all information that you provide on the registration form is current, complete and accurate to the best of your knowledge. You shall be responsible for protecting the confidentiality of your user name(s) or password(s), if any.
  2. FAnews sites and platforms may contain comments sections or discussion forums, or other interactive features in which you may post or upload user-generated content. You are solely responsible for your use of any interactive areas and you use them at your own risk. By submitting user content to an interactive area you enter into these Terms of Use.
  3. For FAnews services, sites and platforms you agree not to upload, post or otherwise transmit any user content that:
  • violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others, including any statements which may defame, harass, stalk or threaten others.
  • you know to be false, misleading or inaccurate.
  • contains blatant expressions of bigotry, racism, racially or ethnically offensive content, hate speech, abusiveness, vulgarity or profanity.

  • is protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner of such copyright, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity or other proprietary right. the burden of determining that any user content is not protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity or other proprietary right rests with you. you shall be solely liable for any damage resulting from any infringement of copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, rights of publicity or other proprietary rights or any other harm resulting from such a submission.
  • does not generally pertain to the designated topic or theme of any interactive area.
  • contains any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional materials with respect to products or services, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation.
  • you agree not to engage in activity that would constitute a criminal offense or give rise to a civil liability.
  • you agree not to upload, post or otherwise transmit any user content, software or other materials which contain a virus or other harmful or disruptive component.
  • you agree not to interfere with or disrupt the site or the servers or networks connected to the site, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the site.
  • you agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy or exploit for any commercial purpose, any portion of the site, use the site, or access to the site.
  1. FAnews reserves the right in its sole discretion to remove or edit user content on all its platforms.
  2. FAnews does not vouch for the accuracy or credibility of any user content, and does not take any responsibility or assume any liability for any actions you may take as a result of reading user content posted on the site or platforms. Through your use of interactive areas, you may be exposed to content that you may find offensive, objectionable, harmful or inaccurate. By using interactive areas, you assume all associated risks.
  3. FAnews shall have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor user content posted or uploaded to the site and/or platforms to determine compliance with these Terms of Use and any operating rules established by FAnews and to satisfy any law or regulation.
  4. Although FAnews has no obligation to monitor, screen, edit or remove any of the user content posted or uploaded to the site or its platforms, FAnews reserves the right, and has absolute discretion, to screen, edit, refuse to post or remove without notice any user content posted or uploaded to the site or platform at any time and for any reason, and you are solely responsible for creating backup copies of and replacing any user content posted to the site at your sole cost and expense. In addition, FAnews may share personally identifiable information in response to a law enforcement agency's request, or where we believe it is necessary, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.
  5. By submitting user content to the site, you automatically grant FAnews the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license, but not the obligation, to use, publish, reproduce, modify, adapt, edit, translate, create derivative works from, incorporate into other works, distribute, sub-license and otherwise exploit such user content (in whole or in part) in any form, media or technology now known or hereafter developed for the full term of any copyright that may exist in such user content, without payment to you or to any third parties.

User content submitted by you will be considered non-confidential and FAnews is under no obligation to treat such user content as proprietary information except pursuant to the FAnews Privacy Policy. Without limiting the foregoing, FAnews reserves the right to use any user content as it deems appropriate, including, without limitation, deleting, editing, modifying, rejecting, or refusing to post it. FAnews is under no obligation to edit, delete or otherwise modify user content once it has been submitted to FAnews.
  7. The site contains copyrighted material, trademarks and other proprietary information, including, but not limited to, text, software, photos, video, graphics, music and sound. FAnews owns copyright in the selection, coordination, arrangement and enhancement of such content, as well as in the content original to it. You may not modify, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer or sale, create derivative works, or in any way exploit, any of the content, in whole or in part. You may download copyrighted material for your personal use only. Except as otherwise expressly permitted under copyright law, no copying, redistribution, retransmission, publication or commercial exploitation of downloaded material will be permitted without the express permission of FAnews and the copyright owner. In the event of any permitted copying, redistribution or publication of copyrighted material, no changes in or deletion of author attribution, trademark legend or copyright notice shall be made. You acknowledge that you do not acquire any ownership rights by downloading copyrighted material.
  8. FAnews is a distributor of content supplied by third parties and users. Any opinions, advice, statements, services, offers, or other information or content expressed or made available by third parties, including information providers or users of the site, are those of the respective author(s) or distributor(s) and not of FAnews. Neither FAnews nor any third-party provider of information guarantees the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any content, nor its merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose.
  9. In many instances, the content available through the site represents the opinions and judgments of the respective user or information provider not under contract with FAnews. FAnews neither endorses nor is responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any opinion, advice or statement made on the site by any third party. Under no circumstances will FAnews be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any loss or damage caused by your use or reliance on information obtained through the site. Disclaimer of Warranty; Limitation of Liability.

  1. You expressly agree that use of the site is at your sole risk. Neither FAnews nor any of their respective employees, third party content providers or licensors warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error free; nor do they make any warranty as to the results that may be obtained from use of the site, or as to the accuracy, reliability or content of any information, service, or merchandise provided through the site.
  2. FAnews disclaims any and all liability of any kind for any unauthorized access to or use of your personally identifiable information. By accessing the site, you acknowledge and agree to FAnews's disclaimer of any such liability. If you do not agree, you should not access or use the site.
