The majority of Sanlam’s 2018 disability claims (25%) were for cancer. Additionally, cancer and tumours accounted for 61% of severe illness claims. 80% of severe illness claims for women were for cancer, 31% of which were for breast cancer and 6% for skin cancer. 45% of men’s claims were for cancer, with 33% of these for prostate cancer.
