SSP makes InsureJ available on Oracle

01 June 2010 | Technology | General | SSP

SSP, a leading global provider of insurance technology, today announced the availability of its InsureJ insurance solution on the Oracle 11g database. This new release further extends the availability of InsureJ on industry standards, such as IBM DB2.

Rhys Collins, Head of Operations at SSP says, “Many African insurers have already invested heavily in Oracle as an underlying solution platform and the investment by SSP in InsureJ, combined with the addition of support for the Oracle 11g database, allows SSP to offer a wider choice of implementation and database options to its customers and underpins its strategy to make InsureJ the leading component based insurance solution available.”

Collins says this is particularly significant at a time when many technology companies are perhaps tightening their belts due to the economic downturn. “We are sending out a very clearmessage to the market that SSP is serious when it comes to research and development and we will continue to live up to our promise.”

Designed to replace legacy technology, InsureJ is a modern, service-oriented architecture (SOA) based, dynamic general insurance solution delivered through a comprehensive range of business components, including product configuration, policy administration, claims and reinsurance that allow insurers to create their own unique solution. Providing insurers with unprecedented freedom to integrate with other systems, InsureJ allows insurers to increase their speed to market, streamline current processes and improve customer service across all lines of business.

Commenting globally, Kevin Gaut, chief technology officer at SSP says, "We are proud to introduce InsureJ on Oracle 11g, which builds on our established relationship with Oracle. The support of Oracle is an important step for the InsureJ solution as it allows us to offer a greater degree of flexibility to our customers, based on industry standard products. Our customers' businesses require a software architecture that is scalable, reliable and secure - InsureJ and Oracle 11g deliver these benefits. The team has worked hard and the speed at which the project has progressed is testament to the architecture and technical design of the of InsureJ components.”

With the addition of Oracle and the continued investment and support for IBM DB2, combined with its leading Microsoft-based insurance solution, S4i, SSP is now able to offer solutions on all the leading database platforms globally.
