IQ helps Indwe prepare for growth

30 March 2009 | Technology | General | The IQ Business Group

Indwe Risk Services, South Africa’s largest empowered short term insurance broker has major expansion plans – and The IQ Business Group is working with them to ensure their infrastructure is able to support the Johannesburg-based company’s vision.

Initially, IQ conducted a comprehensive audit of Indwe’s existing hardware, software and network infrastructure to determine whether it could accommodate planned increased business of up to 200% over its current volumes.

“Using this as a foundation, we then developed a detailed roadmap of how we could best transition Indwe from its ‘as is’ environment to where it would have to be in order to deal with its targeted growth – and to do so without disrupting current operations,” explains Mike O’Brien of IQ’s Software business unit.

With the roadmap in place, appropriate hardware has been acquired to support the new, scalable IT system.

Naomi Oosthuizen, IT Project Manager at Indwe explains that the company had brought its strategy and values in line with its mission to become the leading insurance broker in South Africa.

“Our next step was to engage with The IQ Business Group and identify the areas that needed expansion and improvement, in order to accommodate our planned business growth, ensuring our continued success and longevity and giving us the necessary tools to exceed service levels to our clients.

“Partnering with a company such as The IQ Business Group has been absolutely key in delivering on the complex task at hand. IQ’s vast experience and intellectual property has served us well in the design, planning and implementation of this business critical project,” she adds.

IQ is now working on the next phase of the upgrade which involves installing and customising Microsoft and Microsoft-compatible several software applications.

According to O’Brien, the entire project has proceeded remarkably smoothly thanks to the excellent working relationship that has developed between the IQ and Indwe teams.

“Projects of this size and complexity can become a nightmare for both supplier and customer unless there is a clear understanding of how the project will proceed. Fortunately, we’ve had nothing but co-operation from Naomi Oosthuizen and her team at Indwe and the result is that the project is well on track to come in on time and within budget,” he concludes.
