What’s inside… FAnews Magazine June 2025

05 June 2025 | Talked About Features | The Stage | Rianet Whitehead

June marks the halfway point of a challenging year. While we hope for economic recovery, ongoing uncertainty, market struggles, and deteriorating infrastructure - especially in Gauteng - keep optimism in check. As one Uber driver joked, “We’re not driving on the left side of the road anymore - we’re driving on what’s left of it.”

Progress means staying curious, embracing tech, and building uplifting networks. At the recent IFTRIP Conference hosted by Sasria, global risks like political violence, cyber threats, and climate-related unrest took centre stage - highlighting the evolving role of insurers in protecting economies.

The SAUMA Conference also stood out, offering strong insights on compliance, climate risks, and the future of UMAs. Kudos to SAUMA for a great return to in-person events.

Next up is the African Insurance Exchange (AIE) in July at Sun City - a must-attend for the short-term insurance sector. I’m especially looking forward to the TIA Panel featuring Alicia Narainsamy and 2024 finalists Temwa Nyirenda, Rhein Schnetler, and Mandilakhe Madikane.

FAnews and The Insurance Apprentice are also teaming up with IISA for a CSI initiative in Rustenburg. On 30 July, we’ll bring a mini–TIA Challenge to local schools - sparking curiosity and inspiring future industry professionals. We invite all changemakers to get involved.

There’s so much happening - now’s the time to stay engaged. Enjoy this issue; it’s another great one, full of insights and inspiration.

Below, we have highlighted some of the articles in the June edition. There are more, so be sure not to miss out on the ones we have not highlighted below.
