Santam delivers on risk management promise

Santam, the country’s largest short-term insurer, now offers clients a risk management service that sources safety features and products on their behalf at significantly discounted rates. The service is an integral part of Santam’s ongoing campaign to promote risk management solutions and to reward clients who actively seek to manage their risks.

Santam clients are invited to contact the dedicated service for all products and services that fall within the three categories of home and business, vehicle, and personal safety. They will be contacted within 24 hours with details of the relevant service providers in their areas, and will benefit from discounted prices – up to 30% off normal prices – negotiated by Santam on their behalf.

Margaret Massie, (Pictured right) Executive Head of People and Brand Services at Santam, explains: “Our approach is to offer clients a more trouble-free and rewarding life by enabling them to take positive actions that will minimise the risks that they face. In this way we hope to portray short-term insurance not as a grudge purchase, but rather as a lifestyle option that will make one’s life ‘safer’, in line with our brand promise.”

Santam’s risk management offering has been accompanied by a significant marketing and public relations campaign. Massie explains that the intention throughout has been to explain to clients how they can practically benefit from the risk management approach.

“First, we told South Africa about risk management through our national Extreme Risk Management competition. Then we brought them an exciting risk-reduction offering to assess their homes, vehicles or small businesses for safety, security and structural risks to ensure that they are correctly covered.

“And now, we are very excited to introduce the customised service that will help clients to source safety services - anything from burglar bars to self-defence classes - in the areas where they live and work, at the best possible rates,” she says.

Massie notes that the feedback from clients who have already taken advantage of the service has been extremely positive.

“Ultimately, our intention is to change the insurance playing field. Risk management is all about offering our clients proactive risk management solutions that will help to make their lives more rewarding,” she concludes.
