Turn your side hustle, into your main hustle

Given the current state of the South African economy with the recent VAT increase, many households took the hardest knock. 55% of South African adults now believe that an additional income can only help them to maintain a comfortable lifestyle in providing for their families, this is according to Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM).

Standard Bank has recently launched a new campaign called My Fearless Next, to help South Africa’s budding entrepreneurs turn their side hustles into their main hustles. This campaign is targeted at young entrepreneurs who are working nine-to-five corporate jobs but have started a small business on the side and must be an active Standard Bank account holder.

My Fearless Next campaign will run for three months and applicants can enter via online application from June to July. Six contestants will be drawn weekly, sent to boot camp with one of them being selected each week and sent to the final round. The overall winner will be announced at an exclusive event in August, receiving up to one year salary capped at 1 million as well as mentorship from Standard Bank’s entrepreneur development program.

The contestants will be mentored by seven successful entrepreneurs namely, Hezron Louw – owner of Sumting Fresh, Tlhompho Mokoena – owner of The Wing Republic, Farah Fortune – owner of African Star Communications, Thato Kgatlhanye – owner of Repurpose Bags, Sphelele Dlamini – owner of Ntozinhle Accessories. Bulelani Balabala – owner of IAF Brands and Township Entreprenuer Academy and Dene Botha – MD of Pride Factor and owner of Inspired Youth SA.
