Tracker makes explosive recovery
The recovery of a vehicle stolen in Sandton last night (March 1, 2007) has led a Tracker recovery crew and the Alberton SAPS to a premises in Germiston where two further stolen vehicles were recovered together with almost two kilograms of explosives, two detonators as well as four metres of detonation cord.
The SAPS bomb disposal unit was called out to the scene and one man has been arrested.
"We're extremely satisfied whenever one of our recoveries leads to a discovery of this nature," says Gareth Crocker, Communications Manager for Tracker.
"If you couple this with Tracker's bust of possibly the world's first mobile chop shop last week, it's very encouraging to see the impact Tracker and the rest of the vehicle tracking industry is having on crime in South Africa," Crocker said.
In ten years, Tracker has recovered approximately 32 000 stolen and hijacked vehicles and arrested some 6500 vehicle criminals. The company has also shut down more than 280 crime syndicates and chop shops.
