The University of Pretoria and the University of Cape Town are winners of the 2013 Mutual & Federal Universities Boat Race

09 September 2013 Mutual & Federal

Mutual & Federal congratulates the University of Pretoria (Men’s crew) and the University of Cape Town (Women’s crew) for winning this year’s Universities Boat Race. The race, which was held in the coastal town of Port Alfred, ended on 7 September 2013.

"We are excited for the winning teams", says Sean Kerr, a Trustee of student rowing. "We are equally pleased that the standard of student rowing improves with each race and that this year was no exception", he continues.

The Mutual & Federal Universities Boat Race is a contest between South African universities’ rowing teams who compete in a series of crew versus crew duels in the men’s and women’s categories. In recent years, it has also been used as a platform to groom novice rowers for the mainstream events.

"Mutual & Federal is honoured to be associated with the Universities Boat Race and we are proud of the impact it is making in the development of rowing. Congratulations to the winners and to all the students who continue to make this event successful each year", says Pascal Pau, Mutual & Federal’s Regional Manager for the East Coast.
