Last year, Oakhurst Insurance and partners spearheaded a revamp project at The George Fire Department, and are continuing in their support of Fire Services having now completed renovations to the Thembalethu Fire Department. This revamp was made possible with the funds raised at the International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) celebrations held in May along with generous donations from George-based businesses.

Chief Fire Officer, Neels Barnard of the George Fire Department had this to say: “It’s this overwhelming support demonstrated by Oakhurst Insurance, members of the community as well as businesses throughout George, that reminds us Emergency Service professionals why it is that we do what we do. It is an honour to serve this community and we’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all who made this wonderful revamp possible.”

Peter Grindlay, Managing Executive of Oakhurst Insurance, added the following: “It’s an absolute privilege to be able to assist our Firefighting heroes, by simply making their surroundings a little more comfortable. I am exceedingly grateful and humbled by the support of our partners, as well as the massive generosity of the people of George. This small gesture of gratitude pales in significance to the sacrifices these amazing people make on a daily basis.”
