Johannesburg couple go home with half a million rand and priceless financial confidence

Johannesburg couple, Nande Kizza and Lona Ngubegusha, are Sanlam Moola-Money Family Game Show's 2022 winners! By flexing their financial knowledge on national television, the husband-and-wife team beat 15 other teams to the half a million Rand prize money in the show’s second season which came to an end this weekend.

As South Africa’s first and only financial literacy family gameshow, Sanlam Moola-Money on SABC 2 is aimed at arming everyday South African families with financial knowledge in a fun and engaging way. Walking away with R500 000 and priceless financial lessons learnt, Nande Kizza and her husband Lona Ngubegusha say that the importance of having a financial advisor is one of the many things they learnt from being on the show.

“Our journey has been unbelievable. We’ve been aware of the show for almost a year, and we have been so eager to be a part of it, and now it has all come full circle,” says Ngubegusha. “We will definitely be taking the lesson forward that preparation, together with a laser focus towards a goal, is a winning formula for future endeavours,” he says.

“We plan to save and invest our winnings, but also obviously spoil ourselves a bit,” added Kizza.
After having to face their biggest financial fears over the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic hitting shortly after having their first child, the couple say they are putting aside their dream trip to Dubai for now and will rather be prioritising investing for their daughter’s education and creating a financially confident and stable future for their family.
