Bernie Ray
Bernie will join us, effective 1st July 2022, in the role of International Executive and will have responsibility for our international expansion and our international MGA roll out. This will include all Legal and Compliance matters, the Wealth creation vehicles for our senior people, our Reinsurance strategies, and our Technology solutions.
On accepting the post, Bernie commented “Following a lengthy career in private legal practice and corporate law I finally found my calling in the insurance industry. With nearly two decades of leadership roles in the industry - most recently as CEO of Emerald – I know the true value of creating sustainable and ethical insurance solutions that underpin and secure our policyholders’ assets and businesses.
Empowering individuals and teams to achieve this together, is my personal goal. It’s my privilege to join the Sapphire leadership team where I know my values, aspirations and goals are not only shared, but where they began.”

Bernie is a fellow recipient of the Sanlam CEO award, and I am delighted that he will be here to help us guide Sapphire forward.”
Bernie joins us from his most recent post of CEO at Emerald Risk Transfer. Prior to this Bernie’s esteemed career has seen him head up a Technology company as the CEO, run his own legal practice and not to mention his years spent in the insurance industry in legal roles. The skills that Bernie brings to the Sapphire group will be a major asset and we look forward to welcoming him in a few short weeks.
