Santam rated best short-term insurer to work for

Santam has been rated the overall third best company to work for in the 'large companies' category and the best of the short-term insurance companies in this category, in the latest Deloitte 'Best Company to Work For' survey.

Commenting on the achievement, Santam CE Ian Kirk said: "We are delighted that Santam performed so well in the survey, which attracted a record number of entries this year.  I would like to thank all members of staff, not only for this vote of confidence, but more importantly, for their dedication and hard work throughout the year." 

Kirk noted that the achievement is in line with Santam's re-positioning strategy, which places a very high priority on the role of employees in the brand positioning and future growth of the company.  

"The introduction of Santam's new strategy, which is positioned around the concept of proactive risk management, represented a major departure for the brand. In order for it to succeed, it was imperative that the people who work with the brand our employees and brokers should fully understand and support the new direction.

"We realised that we have to ensure that life is 'safer and nicer' for our employees in line with our brand promise - if they are to live the brand. As a result, we have introduced a number of new initiatives including benefits and progammes designed to make life better for our employees. The Deloitte survey results are an indication that we are on the right track. 

"We will continue to find ways and means of promoting the welfare of our employees in the knowledge that they are truly our biggest asset."

The Deloitte Best Company to Work For survey is conducted annually and is aimed at promoting learning and knowledge sharing amongst companies recognised as, or aspiring to be, Employers of Choice.
