Sanlam Investments announces senior changes to the team
Sanlam Investments the investment management arm of Sanlam is leading the group's move to a fully-fledged financial services company announced today two strategic senior management changes which will strengthen its offering to clients. Hendrik Pfaff, previously Head of SIM Retail, has taken up the position of Head: International Investments and a newly restructured distribution function will be headed up by Shane Tremeer, previously Head of Distribution at Glacier.
Johan van der Merwe, Head of Sanlam Investments said there were 16 individual businesses within the investment cluster and that these are all set to benefit from the appointments. "Both Pfaff and Tremeer have outstanding track records within Sanlam. Under Pfaffs leadership the performance of our unit trust portfolio has undergone phenomenal performance rejuvenation, which is highlighted quarter after quarter. Tremeer showed tremendous prowess at Glacier where he was instrumental in setting up a distribution channel to successfully penetrate the affluent market. Both of these players will add value across all our businesses."
Pfaff's new focus will be on exploring international opportunities for Sanlam Investments. He added that Sanlam Investments recognises the important role that international investments play in the divisions ongoing success, hence its intensified focus in this area. "Key to our strategy will be to establish an integrated international proposition that helps protect and grow our current asset base in South Africa over the long term. We also plan to develop a competitive asset management capability which we can nurture and grow outside of South Africa," Pfaff said.
Under Tremeer's direction the distribution within all Sanlam's investment businesses will be centralised. He explains, "Our aim is to ensure that our clients receive the best solution for their specific needs this is only possible if we are totally in-tune with the market and its various constituents."
