PSG names wealth adviser of the year

JSE-listed financial services group, PSG, has announced that Ian Daniell of PSG Uitenhage, located just outside of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, has been named the firm’s Wealth Adviser of the Year for 2016/2017. The accolade was awarded at the 19th annual PSG conference held in Sun City last week. This is the first time Daniell has won this award, despite many nominations.

“PSG has the largest network of independent financial, insurance, healthcare and employee benefits advisers in Southern Africa, which means this award is a significant achievement,” says Dan Hugo, Chief Executive of Distribution at PSG. As at end February 2017, the total number of advisers within the PSG network stood at 744, located in 208 local offices throughout South Africa.

The award was based on the following criteria:

- quality and professionalism, which looks at client interaction, the level of education and skills of staff, practice management and compliance,
- embracing the PSG strategy, which entails being a strong brand ambassador and supporting the key initiatives of the firm and
- profitability, in terms of growth revenue as well as in assets and premiums under administration and/or management.

Ian, who has been working in the financial services and investment management field since 1990, is a graduate of the Muir College Boys High School in Uitenhage. He obtained his BComm and HDE from the University of Port Elizabeth (now the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) where he majored in economics and business economics. In 2000, while working as an independent financial adviser in his own practice, he obtained his CFP from the University of the Free State. Ian has been with PSG since October 2010.
