24 June 2014 | People and Companies | News | PSG

Winner of the longest drive on the 8th hole: Xolile Ketse won a R3 000 voucher from PSG Asset Management.

Handover: Estelle Pieterse (PSG) in the middle, to Karen Hermanus and Andrew Binning of the Rotary Club.

On 5 June 2014, PSG hosted their annual charity golf day in aid of the Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth, the 3rd largest club in South Africa.

The Rotary Club was founded in 1929 and their mission The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Rotary Foundation helps fund humanitarian activities from local service projects to global initiatives.

The Golf Day competition at Humewood Golf Club in Port Elizabeth was a 4-ball alliance, 2 scores to count, with a shot gun start at 10.45. Twenty five 4-balls teed off on a very cold and windy morning. Reviews from the players during the course of the day proved to be very positive.

PSG managed to raise a total of R56 730. This was obtained through various auction items that were enthusiastically bid for as well as raffle tickets which were sold at R50 each. A Hole-in-One prize of R100 000 (R50 000 to the winner and R50 000 to the Rotary Club) was unfortunately not scooped up. . . (Maybe next year)

The cheque was presented to the current president of the Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth, Andrew Binning, and incoming president Karen Hermanus.

The Organisers Estelle Pieterse (PSG Regional manager) and Riana Van Der Merwe would like to thank all their Advertiser and sponsors of 4-Ball prizes and auction items, for their generosity and support!

“There was much relaxed banter at the prize giving, which drew spontaneous laughter. Watching the camaraderie during the day and at the prize giving dinner, together with the remarkable donation we were able to hand over to rotary, made us realize that – despite the winter chill – the day had been a warm and friendly success which could not have been done on our own!!”.
