Pro Sano Medical Scheme extends brand to broker community and enables fund raising for charity drive

As part of its unconventional approach to brand building initiatives, Pro Sano Medical Scheme has partnered with RISKSA magazine for the Put Foot Rally 2012 charity drive to reach its broker community who play a critical role in the Scheme’s distribution

“We have seen a growing number of brokers wanting to represent the Scheme which we attribute to the lifting of the curatorship, our sound financial position as well as the success of our national awareness campaign. The Put Foot Rally 2012 initiative and its association with a valuable medium such as RISKSA magazine gives us the opportunity to extend our brand into areas we would not normally be,” says Michelle Camps, Sales and Marketing Executive at Pro Sano Medical Scheme.

A record number of 448 rhinos were killed for their horns in South Africa alone in 2011 and the horrific and unfortunate situation continues to plague Southern Africa and the rest of the African continent. Pro Sano’s involvement will go a long way towards enabling Team RISKAFRICA to raise enough funds to support two fully equipped anti-poaching teams to help combat the rhino carnage. Two subspecies of rhino are believed to have gone extinct recently further north in Africa.

Hundreds of African school children along the rally routes covering Southern African – from Cape Town to Namibia, through Zambia, Zimbabwe, then Malawi, and Mozambique – will also benefit from this initiative as the Pro Sano sponsored Team RISKAFRICA will raise funds to put brand new school shoes on their feet.

“We are pleased to get involved in this initiative particularly as we also have Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife as members, which has helped us understand the extent of this threat to our Southern African wildlife,” says Camps. “We felt that this is a valuable cause to associate our brand with, that is of national importance and is also close to ours and our members’ hearts.”

Michael Kaufmann, Marketing Director of RISKSA and RISKAFRICA magazines says: “We are thrilled to have Pro Sano Medical Scheme on board with our Put Foot Rally 2012 save our rhinos campaign. Team RISKAFRICA will be driving 17000 kilometres in 17 days to raise funds for rhino conservation, and it’s never been more needed! I’ve just recently learnt that the frequency of rhino poaching attacks increased dramatically from one every 20 hours (during last year’s record number of killings, 448), to one every fifteen hours today. At this rate, we’ll surpass 2011’s figures by say September 2012 and see another record number of killings around the 600 mark.”

It is no longer the concern of only those close to the wild life and in conservation to worry about the plight of the rhinos. “Every one of us is encouraged to assist in whatever form to ensure that there are enough resources to fight poachers who risk driving rhinos to extinction,” concludes Camps.
