The PSG Wealth Pretoria East office has been named PSG’s Office of the Year for 2016/2017, along with the office’s own Johan Borcherds named as Wealth Manager of the Year for the same period. PSG is a JSE-listed financial services group, and the awards were handed out at their 19th annual PSG conference and awards ceremony in Sun City last week.
“PSG has the largest network of independent financial, insurance, healthcare and employee benefits advisers in Southern Africa, which means this award is a significant achievement,” says Dan Hugo, Chief Executive of Distribution at PSG. As at end February 2017, the total number of advisers within the PSG network stood at 744, located in 208 local offices throughout South Africa.
Hugo noted that the award was based on the following criteria:
- quality and professionalism, which looks at client interaction, the level of education and skills of staff, practice management and compliance,
- embracing the PSG strategy, which entails being a strong brand ambassador and supporting the key initiatives of the firm and
- profitability, in terms of growth revenue as well as in assets and premiums under administration and/or management.
Johan Borcherds is a long-time resident of the Pretoria region, having graduated from Hoërskool Akasia and later attending the University of Pretoria, where he obtained his Master of Commerce in Tax, CA(SA) and CFP®. Borcherds began his 20-year career with Southern Life as a financial adviser before joining PSG in 2001.
PSG Wealth Pretoria East, jointly headed by Borcherds and his business partners, was opened as one of PSG’s first adviser offices in 1998. Today, 17 advisers handle more than 3 000 families’ financial affairs. The office has been involved in the Louis Botha Children’s Home for more than a decade.
This is the ninth time in the last decade that PSG Wealth Pretoria East has been named PSG’s Office of the Year.
