On the Road with Revolutionised Risk

11 August 2011 FMI

Innovative; Exciting; Ground breaking; Revolutionary. These are just some of the words used by Financial Advisers to describe the new enhancements made to FMI’s signature product, Business Person Elect (BPE), which were introduced to them at events held around the country last week.

The FMI road show kicked off at Montecasino’s La Toscana Venue in Johannesburg on the 1st of August 2011. An event held at Emperors Palace followed on the 2nd of August; another on the 4th of August at the Hilton Hotel in Cape Town, and the tour came to a close with an event held at the Hilton Hotel in Durban on Friday the 5th of August. These events saw FMI introduce some exciting new enhancements to just fewer than 350 Financial Advisers countrywide.

FMI introduced their enhancements to the public with a bang. This successful launch included high class venues, a professional presentation and market leading, completely innovative products. Brad Toerien, CEO at FMI, was the master of ceremonies at each of the four events and filled the role perfectly with his down to earth charm. Paul McKillen, Product Development Actuary at FMI, walked the guests through the enhanced product offering, while Stuart Cumming, FMI’s Head of Distribution, gave detailed descriptions of the sales support and marketing material available to Financial Advisers and the end user.

FMI announced the introduction of a Capital Disability benefit, essentially the missing piece in their old product offering, ensuring holistic disability cover. A significant Rates Decrease around their TIP (Temporary Income Protector) product was also revealed. Furthermore they introduced a revised risk assessment model, with a revolutionary approach that rewards business owners and classifies them in a non-traditional way. In addition the FMI team launched a New Quotes Package, as well as their new Website.

A very popular feature at each of the four events was the guest speaker, Dr Roelof Botha. In his own unique style Roelof combined serious matters of economics and politics with the lighter side of life, and completely captivated our audiences. Who knew that both ‘informative’ and ‘entertaining’ could encapsulate a talk given by an economist? It is not surprising that Roelof received the Sake-24/ABSA award for Economist of the Year in 2005, and that he has authored more than 100 articles, books and research publications. A lucky draw at each event also saw 4 IPAD2’s (currently in huge demand) given away as prizes to Financial Advisers in attendance.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback from Financial Advisers based on the four events held. They all seemed excited to take our enhancements to the market, especially the prospect of significantly decreased rates for business owners” commented Toerien. “At FMI we pride ourselves on our ability to treat every client as an individual with unique insurance needs, and by challenging convention we believe that we are achieving this.”
