Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance Demonstrates Commitment to Communities through Generous Donations

22 January 2024 The Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance (OSTI)

The Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance (OSTI) is grateful for the opportunity to make charitable contributions, showcasing its dedication to supporting local communities and uplifting those in need over the past year.

On March 23rd, OSTI made a substantial donation to Kids Haven. The donation included ten soccer balls, ten netball balls, five volleyball balls, five basketball balls, and an impressive 35 pairs of soccer boots—this contribution aimed to promote active lifestyles and sports engagement among the children at Kids Haven.

In July, the organisation extended its philanthropic efforts by donating to Door of Hope. Thirty fleece blankets and cosy winter clothing for each toddler were handed over, ensuring comfort and warmth during the colder months.

September saw OSTI join hands with the Banking Ombud and Credit Ombud in a collaborative effort supporting the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day project. The combined efforts resulted in a donation from each ombudsman and their staff. This initiative involved the donation of wool, knitted/crocheted blankets, squares, and beanies, benefitting the Fountain of Love Orphanage as the final recipient.

As part of its commitment to spreading joy during festive seasons, the company participated in the Santa Shoebox drive on October 31st, gathering a remarkable total of 59 boxes filled with essentials and gifts for those in need.

The Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance remains steadfast in its commitment to community welfare and social responsibility. These charitable contributions reflect OSTI's dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities across South Africa.

OSTI is dedicated to resolving disputes between consumers and short-term insurance companies efficiently, impartially, and fairly. Additionally, OSTI engages in various community outreach programs and charitable initiatives to contribute positively to society.

The cash value of the donations alone was significant/ amounted to more than R31 000 plus the value of 59 boxes for Santa Shoebox, but the greater value lies in the efforts, the thoughts, and giving spirit of the OSTI, its partners and their staff.
