Khehla Mthembu to leave Old Mutual & Rojie Kisten appointed Head of Corporate Affairs

12 September 2006 - Old Mutual South Africa has announced that Khehla Mthembu, head of Corporate Affairs and CEO of Old Mutual's Gauteng operations, will be leaving the group as at 31 March 2007 to pursue entrepreneurial interests.

"I would like to thank Khehla for his excellent contribution to our business, especially in building strong relationships with our various stakeholders, boosting our transformation efforts and growing our Gauteng presence", says Old Mutual South Africa MD Paul Hanratty. "I wish him every success in his new ventures and look forward to working with him in the future."

Khehla Mthembu comments: "My three and a half years at Old Mutual have been hugely satisfying. The industry faces exciting challenges, and I am pleased to have contributed to Old Mutual's growth in this period."

Mthembu will be joining Wananchi (Pty) Ltd as its Executive Chairman. Wananchi operates in the Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality industry and will draw on Khehla's previous experience in these areas. Khehla has also been appointed Chairman of newly-formed BEE company, Kgomo Kgolo Agri Investments. He will continue to consult with Old Mutual on specific projects, after his departure.

Rojie Kisten, currently General Manager for Corporate Sales, will replace Mthembu as head of Corporate Affairs at Old Mutual from 1 January 2007. Both Mthembu and Kisten will remain full-time in their current positions until then. Kisten's successor will be announced in due course.

Kisten is by no means new to the Old Mutual group. Prior to her assuming her current position, she spent 11 years in various businesses in Old Mutual South Africa and Nedbank, including life assurance, retail and commercial property and asset management.

Kisten holds an Honours Degree in Business Administration. In her private capacity she is also the President of ABSIP (Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals) Western Cape. She is very involved in her local community with projects that lead to the upliftment of children and elderly people and serves as the Chairperson of the Monwabisi Community Forum in Hout Bay.

Hanratty comments: "Rojie is a dynamic individual who marries a deep experience of our business with a real understanding of the transformation needs of our company and our country. I am delighted that she has agreed to take on this major challenge."
