21 May 2007 | People and Companies | News | Camargue Underwriting Managers

Camargue Underwriting Managers, specialist underwriters in financial lines insurance, is proud to announce the opening of its Cape Town branch. Situated within the Carl Greaves Financial Services Building, 6 End Street, Bellville, the dynamic Steve Thomas and Maritza Gelderbloem team are now close at hand to provide protection to Directors & Employers in Namibia, together with the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, against liability suits.

With approved coverholder status at Lloyd's of London, the new Camargue office will offer the same unique policies as the founding Gauteng office including the following packages: Directors & Officers Liability (D&O); Employment Practice Liability (EPL);  Pension Fund Trustee Liability and related Financial lines liability products .

Says Thomas on the opening, "We are excited to open our doors and extend Camargue's commitment to managing client risks within this new business footprint. As such, we look forward to sharing our wealth of knowledge and full range of financial lines products, which enable large organisations, as well as SMMEs to focus on their business' core competencies. On receipt of duly completed proposals and all correct and required underwriting information, we guarantee a 24-hour turnaround on quotes."

Further to opening a new branch in Cape Town, Camargue this month (April) is pleased to announce the formation of an underwriting partnership with Centriq. In terms of this arrangement Centriq will act as local co-insurer, thereby supporting its strategy to target the financial lines liability market.

Expounds Camargue MD Mitch Marescia on the partnership, "This niche sector of the insurance market is experiencing the first true new business spend in the industry, on the back of the growing need for directors to practice greater transparency in their dealings with shareholders and the public at large. Centriq has an innovative approach to risk management and modeling that aligns perfectly with our vision. This enables us to keep a local component to our offering, while its strong empowerment credentials and credit rating are particularly impressive."
