One of South Africa’s leading short-term insurers, Mutual & Federal yesterday (Wednesday, 24 November 2010) opened its newly upgraded Multi-purpose Centre in Durban. This is in line with the Company’s strategy to turn all its previous drive-in claims centres and dual claims centres into Multi-purpose facilities.

The Durban facility is widely known to Mutual & Federal clients and brokers for assessing vehicle damages in a quick and efficient manner. The upgrade has come with enhanced service delivery in that a Claims Handler has been employed to also register all non-motor related claims within the premises.

“We are on a drive to bring convenience to our current and prospective clients”, says Heidi Dias, general manager for Claims Operations at Mutual & Federal.

Not only has service been enhanced, the Durban facility has been turned into a state-of-the-art establishment; all geared towards excellent customer service. “Feedback from our clients and brokers revealed that our Durban facility needed a facelift – to be on par with the service it provides”, reveals Dias.

Similar to all the other Mutual & Federal Multi-purpose Centres, this facility has been specially designed for Mutual & Federal clients. The process is as easy as clients calling the centre; making an appointment, and within 48 hours, taking the vehicle to the centre for a thorough 45-minute assessment; and completing the necessary documentation. Once the vehicle has been assessed the client will be referred to a Mutual & Federal approved panel beater for repairs.

The upgrade of the Durban centre took only three weeks and follows on the Cape Town one that was officially opened only a week ago (18 November 2010).

It is also conveniently located in Durban’s North Coast, which is currently experiencing an office space rush – following the relocation of the King Shaka Airport. Mutual & Federal has another facility in Pietermaritzburg to service the Kwa-Zulu Natal region.

Mutual & Federal pioneered the concept of drive-in claims centres in the early 1990s to reflect its commitment to prompt and professional claims settlement. Today, the short-term insurer is becoming the first Company to enhance its service levels by introducing Multi-purpose centres.

The Durban Multi-purpose Centre operates between 07:30 and 16:00. The contact details are:
