Momentous Women's Month Celebrations

Inspirational storyteller Gcina Mhlophe captivated more than 1,400 women at Momentums Centurion head office, with legendary tales of the impact that ordinary women have in their communities. This was the start of Momentum's Womens Month celebrations.

We as women need to reflect on what we are doing, and how we are doing it. Women form the core of families and we have a massive job to do as value champions in our communities, our families and in the workplace, said Beth van Heerden, Head of Corporate Communications at Momentum.

As part of Momentum's Women's Month celebrations Momentum has undertaken several women inspired projects. Details of the projects were announced Momentum's head office in Centurion today.

Momentum ladies building two houses for women
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Women's March 50 years ago, 96 female employees volunteered to build houses for women in Orange Farm during the Women's Build Week.

Momentum Calendar celebrating women proceeds donated to charity
Momentum's ladies have been involved in compiling a birthday calendar celebrating the role of women in our society. The creation of the calendar in its entirety is the work of female staff members; from the conceptualisation, project management, photography, to the layout and, of course, the modelling.

In keeping with the spirit of this calendar, Momentum has given a calendar to each female employee on Women's Day and also donated R75 000 to the Nisaa Institute for Women's Development.

Heartlines project
Following our sister company FNB's sponsorship of the Heartlines debate on SABC2, Momentum wanted to add to the national debate of values. To encourage our children to take part in this debate Momentum is donating one copy of the Heartlines children's book Stories that Talk to each staff member that buys one. The donated book will go that childs school library.

Momentum Volunteers
Momentum has a volunteers programme that is entirely driven by the initiative of its own staff. Staff contributions to the various charities totalled almost R250 000 in the past year. Members of a local Momentum supported charity prepared all the refreshments for the Womens Day event.

Editor's thoughts:
* A very inspirational morning Momentum definitely went the extra mile for Women's Month.
*The childrens story book will inspire our children with the very core values that society should be built on.

Quick Polls

We have watched with interest as each of the country’s large life insurers report their 2021 life claims statistics, with soaring claims and claims values. That got us thinking: how do the big life insurers compare against one another, from an IFA perspective?
