Karoo2Coast for a Cause = Bucks for Brain Storm

08 October 2015

Mitch Marescia, Managing Director of Camargue recently put in motion a Karoo2Coast adventure for a good cause. He has sent us some great photos and a thank you letter for the support they received from the industry. Well done to all involved.

Dear Friends, Colleagues, Partners & Brain Storm Supporters,

Well, what an amazing time we all had riding through the Forests of Knysna and the most beautiful Karoo landscapes you could imagine!

The Team Spirit & Gees displayed by all, both experienced and novice riders, was quite something to behold and really special.

An initial team of 4 (Tony Webster, Andre Symes, Steve Symes & I) entered and partly/semi conquered the 3 day Dr Evil race preceding Karoo to Coast(K2C), in what were quite trying conditions, you will note from the pictures attached, mud everywhere!  Tony Webster & Andre Symes were the stars of this event, with Tony showing great mastery of the conditions. Steve Symes and I brought up the rear.

On the Friday we were joined by our fellow Karoo to Coast expeditioners & supporters, at Plettenburg Reserve and the fun really started. What an amazing group of people to go with on a fundraising adventure.

The night before, we were presented with the attached encouraging letter of support signed by all of our friends at Brainstorm, with Sponsored Shirts and supplements by FIT. It was really so moving and reminded us why & who we were doing this for. An amazing motivation to all.

Completing the 100k K2C does rely not just on plenty of preparation, but a high dose of technical luck and support from the “Cycling Gods”. That being said, Team Camargue did exceptionally well, with a large portion of the team below completing the race, including yours truly. I was particularly proud of the novices who very bravely took on quite a tough ride and stretched themselves well and truly out of their comfort zones, truly Well Done Guys & Girl! You are legends one & all!

With a number of pledges still to be fulfilled, we have thus far raised/received +R80k and everything points to us exceeding last year’s amount of R101500.00. Thank you so much to all, you are such amazing people and our friends at Brainstorm are extremely grateful.

It is not too late to make or fulfil your pledge to this extraordinary organisation, so please contact us for their banking details in order to do so. Annabie Scullard will be delighted to assist you.

You are all such beautiful people and thank you so much for sharing this journey with us.  We will keep you appraised of the final amount raised, as well as when we will do the hand over to our friends.

Much Love,

Mitch Marescia
