IISA – Celebrating 50 years
The Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) celebrates 50 year in the industry this year.
The foundation of the modern IISA started in Cape Town in 1898. This name was later changed to the Insurance Institute of the Cape of Good Hope. Following this lead, other institutes were set up around the country that served the needs of insurers and brokers alike. Associates were soon found in Bloemfontein, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
In 1966, these institutes got together and said that they should reformat and form the modern IISA as a mother institute. The IISA now plays a vitally important role in the industry and will hopefully continue to do so for many years to come.
FAnews caught up with IISA CEO David Harpur to talk about the association’s history as well as the plan for the future. Among these are some important changes to the Sun City Conference which could take this year’s conference to a whole new level. To view the full interview, please click here to view the video.
