This year Guardrisk celebrates its 20th anniversary and the celebrations kicked off with a charity golf day at the Blue Valley Golf and Country Estate on 22 May 2013.
“We wanted to create a legacy that lasted beyond our anniversary year and we did that by raising R100 000 that was split evenly between Reach for a Dream and the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa, both of which do outstanding work with sick children,” says MD, Herman Schoeman.
Reach for a Dream aims to fulfil the dreams of children with life threatening illnesses and, with the average dream costing R5000, at least 10 children will realise their dreams courtesy of this golf day. Dreams as simple as meeting a sports star or owning a doll or car make a huge difference in the lives of these children, giving them hope when there is little to smile about.
CHOC provides holistic support for children with cancer and life threatening blood disorders. This includes helping families that are not able to raise funds to bring their children for repeated treatment, or to stay close to them while they are in hospital.
