Game on: Medihelp helps young boys play with pride
On 30 January 2026, Medihelp Medical Scheme put a smile on the faces of the bursary recipients from South African Hall of Fame’s Legacy Project.
The Legacy Project is a comprehensive bursary programme that identifies and nurtures exceptionally talented children with limited resources, helping them overcome barriers and reach their full potential.
Each boy received a thoughtfully packed kit to equip them for the opportunities and challenges the new year may bring. The duffle bags included a Medihelp cap, sports towel, swim towel, water bottle, wet and dry bag, and a brand-new pair of sport-specific shoes.
Values in action
Medihelp’s involvement with the South African Hall of Fame began in 2025 with their participation in The CEO Cycle Challenge, where they entered two teams and proudly sponsored the event’s first all-women’s team. That partnership has since evolved into a deeper commitment to youth development through the Legacy Project.
“Medihelp is deeply inspired by the values the South African Hall of Fame lives by,” said Lien Potgieter, head of Marketing. “We choose our partners carefully and with intention, and this partnership reflects our belief that health includes community, purpose, and showing up for one another.”
More than just a gift
The goal of the handover – hosted at Pretoria Boys High School - was not only to provide practical support, but also to offer encouragement as the boys begin a new school year: we see you, we support you, and we believe in you.
“We believe in investing in our youth,” Lien shared. “This is our way of supporting their journey, making sure they’re equipped and ready for the year ahead, so they can continue putting their talents into action. It’s also a moment to reflect on their achievements from last year and encourage them to keep chasing their dreams.”
“We wanted them to know they’re not alone, there are people and organisations rooting for them every step of the way.”
