FPI Appointment
John Arnesen appointed as the new CEO of the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa.
Andrew Bradley, chairperson of the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), announced today that John Arnesen has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for the FPI with immediate effect.
"I am delighted to announce Johns appointment as the new CEO," says Bradley. John joined us in January this year backed by an extensive career in marketing and took up the position of General Manager: Membership. When our previous CEO Sakkie van de Merwe resigned in June, John was the automatic choice to bridge the gap and ably took up the reins as acting CEO. After interviewing several candidates for the permanent position the Board agreed that John was clearly the best candidate to take the FPI into the future."
The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa is the standard setting, examining and certification body for the regions community of professional FINANCIAL PLANNERS. The FPI is affiliated to the International Financial Planning Standards Board, Ltd (FPSB). It has more than 11 000 members and recently celebrated its 25th year of operation.
"John is charged with transitioning the FPI to be the professions representative for standards, compliance and practice and to ensure our membership grows to reflect the diversity of the country," says Bradley. "His abilities and experience as both a professional marketer and in the field of development and implementation of strategic programmes, coupled with his leadership skills make him the best person to lead the FPI into its next growth phase. I know our members will join myself and the FPI Board in congratulating John on this well-deserved appointment and will offer him their wholehearted support."
Arnesen has some 30 years of general management, education and marketing experience. Before joining the FPI he has held executive positions with Eskom, the Institute of Marketing Management and SAQA. He holds various degrees and diplomas from UNISA, Harvard Business School and Rhodes University. He is married with two daughters.
