FISA supports Master’s Office investigation

04 February 2020 The Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA)

The Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA) welcomes the decision announced by Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola to allow the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to conduct search and seizure operations across the Officers of the Master of the High Court across the country.

The investigation started on Monday 3 February and will continue on Tuesday 4 February with a view to Master’s Offices reopening on Wednesday 5 February.

FISA Chairperson, Dr Eben Nel, said: “Any action aimed at rooting out corruption in South African institutions deserves support. We hope that the investigation can be conducted speedily, so that there is minimal inconvenience to the public and fiduciary practitioners requiring Master’s Office services.

“We furthermore call on FISA members to help the SIU in its investigations, if and when necessary,” said Dr Nel.

FISA is the only professional body focusing solely on fiduciary practitioners in Southern Africa. FISA is a non-profit organisation that represents fiduciary practitioners and sets high minimum standards for the industry.
