FIA Swings it for CANSA

11 November 2009 the Financial Intermediaries Association of Southern Africa (FIA)

On Tuesday, 10 November, members of the Financial Intermediaries Association of Southern Africa (FIA) took to the greens and enjoyed a day of golf in support of CANSA.

For the sixth consecutive year, the two associations joined forces and teed off at the Centurion Golf Estate, in a show of support for cancer sufferers and their families throughout the country.

The day was sponsored by PG Glass and CIB Insurance with a number of insurance companies and key FIA business partners participating in the event.

The FIA – which represents the country’s top independent and corporate financial services intermediaries - has forged a strong relationship with CANSA, having contributed almost half a million rand to the association over the past few years.

Says Justus van Pletzen, COO of the FIA: “The ever-increasing cancer statistics in our country are frightening. Funds raised from this year’s event will go towards continued research into finding a cure for this disease. The FIA is committed to social and corporate investment and views its annual CANSA golf day as one of its most important initiatives in raising awareness for and contributing to such a worthy cause.”

This year the FIA and its members raised R50 000 for this valuable cause. The day ended with a prize giving dinner and auction.
