14 February 2023 Discovery

The international tournament takes place for the second time in South Africa from 13 February 2023 to 19 February 2023.

Discovery Limited is excited to be part of this week’s A1 Padel PaySpace Master 2023 taking place at the Camps Bay Sports club in Cape Town from 13 February 2023 to 19 February 2023. The international tournament takes place for the second time in South Africa and through Discovery’s involvement, all clients get a 15% discount on tickets to watch the matches this week.

Ticket prices vary depending on the day and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.co.za. Discovery clients can access the discount by using the PROMO CODE: PURPLE on the website when buying their tickets. Fans of the sport also have a chance to win tickets to each stage of the tournament through daily give-aways via Discovery’s Twitter (@Discovery_SA) and Facebook (@Discovery South Africa) profiles.

Firoze Bhorat, Discovery Group Chief Marketing Officer, says: “Padel has taken the world by storm, and we know our clients are huge fans of this fast-growing, energising racquet sport. We are excited to be involved in a sport that appeals to people of all ages, and encourages people to lead active lives in a fun way.”

The rules of a Padel match have been described as a hybrid between tennis and squash, and a game is made up of four players using short-handle carbon-fibre racquets and a specialised ball in an enclosed court.

Philippe Kjellgren, organiser of the A1Padel PaySpace Cape Town Master event, says: “Padel has grown exponentially in South Africa, and this tournament provides local players with an opportunity to compete against the world’s best. We’re really excited to partner with Discovery and our players are looking forward to the Discovery Bank Player’s Lounge."

The quarter-finals, semi-finals and the finals will be broadcast live, along with highlights during the week of the tournament, on SuperSport.

Crowd favourite Tolito Leonel Aguirre, as well as the 2022 Masters winners, Maximiliano Arce and Franco Dal Bianco, will be returning to compete for the coveted trophy and a prize purse of $110,000.
