Cradle Classic Cycle Race & Winners of Liberty Life Criterium Cycle Series
NEVER TOO LATE TO GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING OF HUMANKIND
Cyclists who havent yet entered the Liberty Life Cradle Classic, which takes place at the Cradle of Humankind on Sunday 24th September 2006, still have the opportunity to do so!
Late entries can be submitted at registration which is happening at CycleLab on 22nd September from 09h00 till 17h00 and then again on the 23rd from 09h00 until 12h00.
The Liberty Life Cradle Classics starting line is at the gateway to the Cradle of Humankind, the Maropeng Centre on the Magaliesburg Road. Cyclists will then ride through the Cradle of Humankind - a World Heritage Site.
A seeding event for the Pick n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge - the Liberty Life Cradle Classic comprises a 97km race and for the less serious cyclists a 75km race.
The Elite mens winner of the 97km event will receive R5 000, and runners up R4000 and R3 000 respectively. Licensed ladies stand to win R2 500 for first place and R1 000 for coming in second.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Rosebank and Northcliff, funds will be raised for key Rotary charities in Johannesburg.

MALCOLM LANGE WINS AGAIN
The third event in the Liberty Life Criterium Cycle Series was held on Saturday 16th September at Khayelitsha in the Western Cape and Malcolm Lange from Team Microsoft, once again emerged as the victor.
Malcolm claimed victory at the first race of the series, which was held in Soweto in April this year saw. However the second race, held at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, was won by Darryl Impey (Team Microsoft).
Winners of this invitation-only event receive R50 000 while the fastest individual time is awarded R3 000 and the fastest team R3 000.
Darren Lill from Schwin had the fastest individual time at Khayelitsha of 5.17.05 minutes and Team Microsoft came out tops with their time of 7.34.20 minutes in the three lap team trial event.
This is the second time that Liberty Life has held this event at Khayelitsha and we believe that the local residents really enjoyed an exciting day, says Rex Tomlinson, Deputy CE, Liberty Life.
The final race of the series will take the countrys top cyclists to the Durban Beach Front on December 8th where the series winners will be handed a R100,000 cheque - watch SuperSport and the press for details.
