CIB raise over R 100 000 for Viva Day Care Centre
On the 3rd of April 2008, CIB Insurance hosted a charity event to raise funds for their Corporate Social Investment program for 2008. The event was held at the Boma Barnyard Theatre in Alberton, with a charity auction held preceding the show. Kobus Wiese (pictured right) was the MC and sporting items donated by Gavan Levenson, Ashleigh Simon and her Management Company IMG were auctioned including Rugby World Cup 1995 and 2007 memorabilia. Also in the auction was a valuable signed Tiger Woods framed collection of paraphernalia which included the flag from the 18th hole of the 2006 British Open he won after his father passed away. Over R 100 000 was raised in aid of the Viva Day Care Centre in Daveyton through the dedicated efforts of the team from CIB who painstakingly put this fantastic event together.
The Viva Day Care Centre was chosen as a recipient as the centre does not qualify for a government grant, but is currently feeding and entertaining over 100 children while their parents are working. The needs of the children are simple, food and shelter, but unfortunately the centre’s roof is in dire need of renovation which with CIB’s contribution should soon be remedied.
“CIB Insurance is dedicated to helping those less fortunate and when it involves children we dig a bit deeper!” says Douglas Donnelly, CEO of CIB Insurance. “The Viva Day Care Centre is giving these children a safe environment in which to thrive, and hopefully with CIB’s help the centre can remain open for years to come”.
