Specialist underwriting insurance firm Camargue has made history at the University of Witwatersrand’s School of Economics & Business Science, with its R60000 scholarship of a Masters of Commerce (M.Com) degree student. Lucian Carciamaru, the 24-year old post graduate nominated for the one-year sponsorship was selected for his outstanding academic performance in B.Com Insurance and Risk Management Honours degree.
Carciamaru is currently researching the impacts of pending corporate legislation on directors and officer’s liabilities and the insurance thereof. Camargue offers several unique policies aimed at protecting companies against liability suits, one of which is Directors & Officers Liability insurance, which makes the sponsorship an appropriate one.
Mitch Marescia, managing director of Camargue Underwriting Managers, says that grooming young talent who will contribute positively to South Africa’s developing economy is at the centre of Camargue’s sustainability and social responsibility policies. “It is propitious that the topic of Carciumaru’s research ties in with one of our key offerings and believe that as a company we will be able to play a pivotal part in facilitating this project. The findings of the research will have the potential to shape the industry and we believe will offer fresh insights and perspectives which the insurance industry will benefit from,” adds Marescia.
Camargue Underwriting Managers is a specialist underwriting insurance firm with approved coverholder status at Lloyd’s of London and writes its business on behalf of Lloyds of London and Centriq Insurance Company Ltd, on a 70/30 coinsurance basis.
