Blue Financial Services Uganda awarded insurance broker license

30 April 2010 Blue Financial Services

Kampala, Uganda. Pan African micro-financier, Blue Financial Services today announced that its Insurance Division was issued with a composite broker license by the Uganda Insurance Commission. This license enables Blue Uganda to market and sell both life and short-term insurance products in that country.

Greg Niemand, Divisional Director heading up the Group’s Insurance Division commented “this is a great step forward in our initiative to bring insurance services to clients who are often left without any choice when it comes to cover against the unforeseen. This underscores Blue’s intent to provide financial peace of mind to our client base.”

Blue Financial Services is already registered as insurance brokers in Botswana and South Africa, and operate as an insurance company in Zambia.

“The insurance division is coming on stream according to plan,” commented Blue CEO Dave van Niekerk. “This forms part of our strategy to leverage Blue’s infrastructure and brand to capitalise on non-interest income streams.”

Further broker license applications have been lodged with authorities in other of the Group’s 14 operations.
