On Thursday the 30th of March 2017, the brand new and exciting Bidvest Financial Services Academy was launched in Umhlanga Ridge at the Mayfair on the Lake building. This KZN initiative is a joint venture between Bidvest Insurance Group and Bidvest Bank that will play a pivotal role in developing the skills and capabilities of staff and potential candidates in the financial services sector.

The academy is the first to be launched by Bidvest Financial Services (which now includes Insurance) and follows the pilot Bidvest Bank academy currently running successfully in Cape Town. The academy will have its own facilitators who have developed the programmes and course material. The academy has also partnered with Masifunde Training Centre to offer additional courses.

The academy delivers learning and development courses not only to its employees, but it will also host a graduate development programme to fast track graduates into the financial services environment and develop their skills, as well as offer Learnerships for entry level positions within Bidvest Insurance and Bidvest Bank. Candidates will be able to complete their FAIS and RE qualifications as well as other courses needed to work within the financial sector.

Bidvest Financial Services hopes the launch of this academy will draw in talent to the Bidvest group and help them grow and develop their careers.

The academy was designed by Studio 16 who ensured the environment and layout utlised had all been considered and is condusive to a learning environment.

Japie Van Niekerk, CEO of Bidvest Financial Services, Alexia Shuenyane, Executive Head of Human Capital as well as Phillip Donnelly, Managing Director of Bidvest Insurance Group spoke at the event about how they will be focusing on the core competencies and skills to ensure that they help people reach their fullest potential.
