Assupol is consistently active in its support of community upliftment projects, and continued to serve the community this year through its two-day contribution on behalf of Mandela day.

“It has become a tradition for us to contribute more than the required 67 minutes towards Mandela Day. Assupol makes its contribution over two days because our aim is to make a worthwhile difference in the lives of those we are assisting,” says Assupol Group CEO Rudi Schmidt.

The employees of Assupol served their communities over two days at Nellmapius Soup Kitchen & crèche on 18th July 2012 and at Kingdom Life Children’s Centre in Atteridgeville, Pretoria on 19th July 2012.

Assupol’s donations included renovating and refurbishing the facilities at both centres, to improve the efficiency of the charitable services that are provided there.

The life-insurer has a long-standing relationship with Kingdom Life Children’s Centre – a home for neglected, orphaned, abused and disadvantaged children; as well as with the Nellmapius Soup kitchen & crèche. The Soup kitchen provides food to the Crèche and community twice a week during school terms and the majority of the recipients are below the age of 18.

This year the Mandela Day contributions included renovating the TV room and bathrooms at Kingdom Life, the donation of groceries for the Soup kitchen and the provision of a new classroom for the crèche.
