Over 5,000 delegates from the South African and international football fraternity attended Soccerex 2007 – and Aon South Africa, along with the Aon London and Aon German offices, invested in the exhibition, taking the opportunity to showcase the group’s specialist Sports, Recreation and Entertainment division.

Now in its eleventh year, Soccerex 2007 was the first South African edition of the world's biggest business-to-business football exhibition, and was attended by football legends, top football clubs and football playing nations, and football-related businesses. The Aon stand generated much interest amongst visitors.

Aon’s Sports, Recreation and Entertainment division has the capability to provide cover for professional players and soccer clubs, sponsors of soccer and many other parties with a business interest in soccer. “If a soccer player injures himself in a game – this can end both a current and future lucrative career” says Dani Ettridge (pictured right), of Aon’s Sports, Recreation and Entertainment division. “Our players’ accident and illness cover can be arranged on behalf of individual players or players’ unions and clubs”.

Some of Aon’s clients, in particular cellular giant MTN, are global sponsors of FIFA World Cup 2010™, and Aon’s specialist insurance products can be used to leverage a sponsorship and protect the investment. “For example, if sponsors want to provide incentive bonuses to teams should they reach a certain stage in a tournament, this potential reward can be laid off with the correct insurance policy,” explains Ettridge.

The Aon Group has vast collective knowledge and experience in terms of sports insurance, in particularly football insurance. The Aon German office is involved with several clubs in the Bundeslige, the highest level of Germany’s football league system, and Aon London was recently appointed the official brokers for the Premier League’s Manchester United.
