Twenty Years of Exchange Traded Funds in South Africa

09 November 2020 etfSA.co.za

Webinar, Tuesday 24th November 2020 at 13h00

etfSA.co.za, which compiles statistical data on behalf of the entire SA ETF and ETN industry, has compiled a history of the past 20 years of the ETP industry in South Africa.

Mike Brown, the author of this study, was one of the key people responsible for the listing on the JSE of the first ETF, the Satrix 40 ETF, in November 2000. Mike takes you through the developments in this industry over the past 20 years, touching on the highlights and challenges faced over this period.

The structure of the ETF/ETN business has taken on a unique form in South African and has faced down considerable opposition from the established actively managed industry to rise to over R100 billion in total. This is a story worth telling.

The 20 year history report will be made available to all participants in the webinar in electronic form. Printed copies can be sent to you on request.

Please join us for this important event in the development of the financial markets in South Africa.

ANSWER

But what about the BRICS?
Compliance burden remains, grey-list or not.
End-2025 exit is too optimistic.
