17 September 2008 | People and Companies | Events | ABSIP (The Association for Black Securities & Investment Professionals)

ABSIP (The Association for Black Securities & Investment Professionals) is proud to present their 2nd Annual Investment Conference which will take place on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town.

The ABSIP Annual Conference will focus on the challenges facing global financial markets, how South Africa will respond to these challenges and where South Africa finds itself amongst the rest of the world’s emerging markets. To tackle these issues, ABSIP has invited one of the United States’ top investment advisors, Mr John Mauldin.

John Mauldin is a prolific author as well as an investment analyst and editor of the popular Thoughts from the Frontline e-letter that goes to over 1 million readers weekly. This is the most widely distributed investment newsletter globally. John is also a two-time New York Times best-selling author with Just One Thing and Bull’s Eye Investing: Targeting Real Returns in a Smoke and Mirrors Market.

John is based in Texas, USA and is president of Millennium Wave Investments. He was recently voted second only to Warren Buffett as Investor of the Year 2008 by Motley Fool. As a highly regarded investment expert, he is primarily involved in money management, in partnership with associated firms in different geographic regions, including Plexus Asset Management in South Africa, a country he visits regularly. John recently visited South Africa speaking to over 1,000 people at 12 venues, giving half dozen media interviews, and meeting with many individuals. He also wrote a report about his visit to South Africa noting “that there is more to the emerging-market story than China, India, and Brazil. That there are a number of countries that are seeing robust growth and contributing to the world economy. South Africa is an emerging-market country that does not make as much news as it should.”
