The Etana daREDevil Run
Over 600 half naked men (three times the number that ran last year) ran from Etana House in Parktown to the Johannesburg Zoo and back on October 15 to raise awareness for testicular and prostate cancer. A runner from the inaugural run last year was so enthusiastic about the cause that he arranged for 100 men, also dressed in Speedos, to run through the streets of Shanghai, China on the same day. 'Our goal is go national and global and we invite any interested organisations to join with us in having similar events all over South Africa. In the near future we will be organising Etana daREDevil Runs in the 13 cities, apart from Johannesburg, where we have branches," says Carel Nolte, Etana's head of people and brand. The university students from Wits who ran last year reported that they were doing self exams and had had tests. The vulnerable age for testicular cancer in men is 18 to 35!
