Make it a date for a thoroughly entertaining day out exploring lifestyle options for the here and now, along with strategies to boost your retirement planning and lifestyle for the future. Come learn how to Live. Plan. Play!

Retirement in the 21st century holds many possibilities. It has less to do with a rocking chair and a view, and more to do with a wonderful cycle between periods of work and leisure.

According to Lynda Smith of Refirement Network, an exhibitor at the Retirement Expo, some useful milestones to consider are:

• Between the ages of about 45 and 50, we need to assess, and start asking questions to help us discover the road ahead.

• Re-look at the picture every five years to ensure that the plan is still on track, and going in the right direction. The world is changing at such a rate that we cannot assume that plans do not need to be readdressed or tweaked along the way.

To assist with your planning, some of the questions to ask yourself before you visit the Retirement Expo are:

1. What does my investment portfolio look like? Do I have enough?

2. What is my passion and purpose?

3. What risk and health cover do I need for this stage of my life?

4. What kind of work would I like to include in my portfolio?

5. Where do I want to live?

6. What is my new role at home, in society and socially – or what will it be?

7. What would I like to do with leisure and recreational time?

There are many answers to these questions, and the dynamics will be different for every individual or couple. We need to know the answers to these questions to successfully build them into our plans for the future.
