The Sanlam Employee Benefits Sales team held our inaugural Sales Conference at the Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensberg. The conference was a huge success combining work, fun, networking, motivation and recognition under the theme ‘Growing our business…’

Our General Manager’s, Richard van Dijk, opening address really set the tone as he delivered his inspiring message. He spoke about our 2010 performances and how we have grown our business. He set the platform for 2011 expectations and how we are tracking towards meeting these challenges. He also announced a number of new initiatives and developments that will help us grow our business. There is a huge expectation on our team to deliver the results in 2011 and the note from Robert Roux emphasised this.

Our various product providers such as Sanlam Umbrella Solutions, Sanlam Group Risk, Sanlam Structured Solutions, Glacier, Retirement Fund Administrators, presented their updated product offering and some even launched a competition or two; and this really got the attention of the delegates.

Our motivational speakers, Quinton Coetzee, spoke about getting back to basics and emphasised that it is each individual’s focused contribution that makes the collective successful. Dr David Malapo endorsed the message and the theme of the conference with his talk on ‘if you are not growing, you are dying…!’

Gary Kϋnnemann’s, National Sales Manager, closing address really encapsulated the ‘gees’ of the conference where spoke about the journey getting to the conference – ‘which began three weeks earlier with the approval from management to host the event…the planning, preparation and presentation of the venue…the bus trip to the conference with all the fun and camaraderie of the team…the inspiration of our motivational speakers…the support and endorsement of our business partners…the continuous focus on skills development…building up to the big event, our Awards Evening, where our Top Achievers will be honoured…launching the Sales Managers challenge to the team.’

The team building event continued with the focus on keeping the target in sight, with a combination of archery, paintball target shooting and a team memory game.

The highlight of the conference was the launch of our Top Achievers’ recognition and awards gala event. This was a very special evening charged with emotion and excitement as we awaited with bated breath to hear who the top Awardee would be. The MC, Victor Kambule, kept us enthralled and hanging on to his every word, until the big announcement was made. The title of Employee Benefits Specialist of the Year 2010 was awarded to Karen Prinsloo, who graciously accepted the award to her total surprise given the number of candidates for this top honour. Among the criteria for EBS of the Year award are meeting the annual sales target and living the company values!

What an amazing end to an exceptional conference! A big thank you to the event organisers, Gary Künnemann and Theresa Lomberg, for all the arrangements!

Gary would like to thank in particular, Danie Scholtz and his team for the marketing support, Richard and the leadership team for the help in the delivery.

SEB Executives complemented the team on a well organised conference and comment on the fantastic ‘gees’ within Distribution Support.

2010 is history and we are well on our way to meeting and exceeding the challenges of 2011. Already Distribution Support has exceeded the 2010’s new business figures for a number of the product lines.

We look forward to taking our business to the next level in 2011…!

Masikhule regards from the Distribution Support team.
