This year’s Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) Convention will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 14 and 15 June 2016, and it is all set to bring a strong leadership perspective to financial planning professionals.
According to Anton Swanepoel, FPI Convention Organising Committee Chairperson, the program was designed to cover all the key areas that directly impact the financial planning profession and will assist financial planning businesses, big and small, to position their businesses for the future.
Topical subjects
The Organising Committee agreed that political instability, poor economic growth, the effects of drought, rising inflation, rising costs, rising interest rates, a vulnerable currency, a potential downgrade, disruptive technology, radical innovation, new competitors, changing demographics, market volatility and onerous regulation are only some of the many external challenges that advisory businesses face in 2016.
Swanepoel believes that sometimes even the most experienced financial planners have to dig deep to prevent negativity and fear from clouding business decisions. In an environment which some commentators have referred to as the perfect storm, financial planners are being forced to re-imagine their business strategies.
Interesting break away sessions
With sessions designed around leadership, the current economic and market outlook, the latest regulatory update by National Treasury and the FSB, forward thinking industry analysis, robo-advisors, local and international speakers on practice management, wealth management, how to use technology and turn clients into raving fans, leading compliance practitioners and the latest local and international update on risk profiling, the convention looks set to be informative and relevant.
The convention includes speakers such as Judge Dennis Davis and Professor Matthew Lester who will discuss matters relating to tax. This year’s conference will put financial planners and all related stakeholders in a position to make cutting edge business decisions for the future.
The convention closes on a high note with a session by FutureWorld CEO Anton Musgrave who will discuss how to thrive in the perfect storm. This will give delegates an international perspective on making sound business decisions in tough times that may change their future.
With only two weeks to go before the convention Swanepoel urges financial planning professionals to view the Convention program on www.fpiconvention.co.za and register.
Editor’s Thoughts:
The FPI convention has always been a highlight of the calendar on the financial services industry. The topics are relevant and the speakers provide practical advice on how to incorporate best practice into your business. This year’s convention promises to be no different.
