The Nedbank Small Business Seminars taking place from 4 to 22 June

Nedbank marks yet another milestone with the roll-out of its 2012 Small Business Seminars to be held across all major cities across South Africa including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Port Elizabeth, East London, Cape Town, George, Bloemfontein and Polokwane, providing small business owners with a wide range of practical and expert advice on how to build and sustainably grow their businesses.

It is estimated that the SMME sector employs approximately 45% of the workforce in South Africa. Looking at this percentage, it is of great concern that approximately one in every three businesses fail due to lack of necessary skills needed to run a business effectively. With the strategic intent to continue helping this sector, supporting and encouraging young entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses, the Nedbank “free” Small Business Seminars now in their 8th year, have thus far assisted over 20000 small business owners since 2004.

’As a bank for all, we understand that the SMME sector is the driving backbone of our economy. We are confident that at the heart of growing our economy – solutions can be achieved through collaboration with all key stakeholders in support of government’s efforts to grow entrepreneurship and stimulate job creation,’ Sibongiseni Ngundze, Managing Executive of Nedbank Retail Relationship Banking.

The seminars are targeted at both start-up and established small businesses with annual turnover of between R500, 000 and R7.5 million from start-ups through to profitable enterprises.

The seminars will cover the following topics focussing on how entrepreneurs can market their businesses successfully and be able to seal the deal:

  • Fast and easy ways to market and sell your way to the top
  • Seven solutions to energise your financial management

‘While we are acutely aware that there are no quick-fixes, we believe the Nedbank “free” Small Business Seminars continue to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to access practical advice and solutions from experts, designed to suit their needs through every stage of their business. Looking at our prospects as a country, the role of the SMME sector is indeed the new driving force to champion growth in our economy,’ concludes Ngundze.
