On 16 May 2014 Mutual & Federal attended the annual SAUMA (South African Underwriting Managers Association) Conference, held in Bryanston, Johannesburg. The SAUMA Conference 2014 saw industry professionals gathering to discuss trends, market developments and opportunities in the niche insurance and UMA (Underwriting Management Agencies) arena.
The conference saw well-known speakers including Jannie Mouton, Chairman of the PSG Group, political analyst and broadcaster, Eusebius McKaiser, and news editor and broadcaster, Bruce Whitfield, take the floor.
One of the big trends highlighted at the conference is the partnering of traditional short-term insurers and UMAs to design niche and tailored insurance products. Mutual & Federal is at the forefront of this trend.
