JSE hosts myShare Investment Day
Shoes or shares? The average South Africans is more inclined to indulge on credit rather than save or invest. In a move to engender a culture of saving and investing, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) will be hosting an interactive myShare Investment Day on 22 October.
A recent report by the South African Reserve Bank reveals that approximately 72% of adult South Africans are not saving for their future at all. “South Africans need to be educated about the benefits of saving and investing in order to grow wealth,” says Leanne Parsons, COO and Head of Equities Trading at the JSE. “In times of global market uncertainty, many people are understandably reluctant to invest. However those who do invest, regardless of the markets, will benefit in the long run.”
The aim of this event is to encourage the South African public and further reiterate that the stock exchange is for everyone and not only for the rich. For as little as R300 per month, anyone can afford to invest on the stock exchange.
The JSE is partnering with Apple and aspirant investors will be able to play with the latest gadgets and see how easy it is to access online share trading using these devices. In addition, investors may attend the presentations held on the day that will be covering an array of topics. New investors are also welcome to interact with the exhibitors and presenters, which consist of a number of market professionals. Ventriloquist Conrad Koch, will be MC for the day.
