Jack Welch, Manager of the Century, to address the Discovery Leadership Summit in November
Discovery announced that former General Electric Chairman and CEO, Jack Welch, will be addressing the Discovery Leadership Summit to be held in Sandton, Johannesburg on14 November 2016. The Summit is a flagship, global thought-leadership event that enables the sharing of intellectual capital to contribute to leadership in business, government and civil society.
“It will be an honour to tap into the knowledge and experience of a man who has been named the Manager of the Century by Fortune magazine. Having Jack Welch sharing his insights in leading a global business during this year’s Summit will be an incredibly valuable experience for everyone,” says Adrian Gore, Discovery Group Chief Executive.
Welch will be addressing the Summit via video conference live from the USA. He will also be taking questions from the Summit audience.
A legendary management expert, businessman and best-selling author, Welch has established himself as one of the most successful and respected business leaders of our generation. He spent over twenty years as General Electric’s Chairman and CEO, growing the Company’s market capitalisation from $13 billion to over $400 billion.
Also joining this year’s Summit will be expert on the internet and entrepreneurship in China, Duncan Clark. He is the Chairman of BDA in China, which he founded in 1994. The advisory firm services investors in China’s technology and consumer sectors. Clark is also the author of Alibaba; The House that Jack Ma Built.
The theme for the Summit is Inspiring Minds. The final list of speakers, including local visionaries, will be available closer to the event. It currently includes Arianna Huffington, Founder of the Huffington Post, Niall Ferguson, Harvard historian and economist, Simon Kuper, Financial Times columnist and author, and Adrian Gore, Discovery’s Founder and CEO. Dr. Aki Hintsa will no longer participate.
